Requirements Must meet the family income and asset requirements. The following income ceilings are for dependent students and independent students with dependents other than a spouse: two family members, total income cannot exceed $65,000; three family members, total income cannot exceed $66,500; four family members, total income cannot exceed $72,300; five family members, total income cannot exceed $77,500; six or more family members, total income cannot exceed $83,600. See the CSAC website for information about additional income/asset requirements. Must be a domestic student in the U.S. This is a freshman year award. Must be a resident of California. Must plan to attend a qualified college or university in the state of California. The applicant can search for a Cal Grant eligible institution on the CSAC website. Must be a high school senior at time of application, or have received a high school diploma or GED within the previous academic year. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher at time of application. Must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen. Must plan to enroll on a half-time basis or greater.
