Requirements Must meet the family income and asset requirements. The following income ceilings are for dependent students and independent students with dependents other than a spouse: two family members, total income cannot exceed $30,300; three family members, total income cannot exceed $34,200; four family members, total income cannot exceed $38,000; five family members, total income cannot exceed $42,500; six or more family members, total income cannot exceed $45,900. See the CSAC website for information about additional income/asset requirements. Must be a domestic student in the U.S. This is a freshman year award. Must be a resident of California. Must plan to attend a qualified college or university in the state of California. The applicant can search for a Cal Grant eligible institution on the CSAC website. Must be a high school senior at time of application, or have received a high school diploma or GED within the previous academic year. Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen. Must plan to enroll on a half-time basis or greater.
