Must be enrolled at an eligible private college or university in Georgia; OR be a college junior or senior who is enrolled full time in an eligible four-year public college outside of Georgia that is within 50 miles of his/her home residence, because there is no four-year public college located in Georgia within 50 miles of his/her home residence. Must be a legal resident of Georgia for 12 consecutive months or more immediately preceding the date of registration at the institution for the school term for which a grant is being sought. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien. Must be a high senior or older at time of application. A student meeting all of the eligibility requirements of these regulations, who is enrolled in a secondary educational institution (high school) and who is then permitted to enroll in an eligible postsecondary educational institution on a joint enrollment, dual enrollment or an early admission basis, is eligible to receive a grant award provided he/she meets the matriculated status criteria of these regulations. The student is considered 'matriculated' when he/she is fully accepted by the institution and enrolled in courses fully recognized at that time as contributing toward requirements for completion of the program. The student must be in a 'matriculated status' in an organized program of study leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate approved for that award. A student, who may be required to complete certain courses to make up for deficiencies in background or training and yet is recognized by the institution as a degree candidate, is not considered to be fully matriculated by the authority and would not be eligible for a TEG if credit toward the degree is conditional upon satisfactory completion of certain special requirements.
