Requirements
Open to high school seniors who have been accepted or anticipate being accepted at a 4-year academic institution. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher and have taken the SAT or ACT test. Along with their application, they must submit a 500-word essay on an experience during their high school career that taught them something of great importance and how that will impact or shape their future learning. Financial need, race, and gender are not considered in the selection process. Generally, GPAs are 3.9 to 4.0 for the top award, 3.7 to 4.0 for the second award, 3.5 to 3.9 for third, 2.8 to 3.7 for fourth, and 2.75 to 3.5 for fifth. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
Duration
1 year; may be renewed up to 3 additional years.
