Requirements Must be a domestic student in the U.S.; This is an undergraduate and/or graduate award.; Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.; Must be a resident of California.; Must be the child (natural or adopted) or spouse, at the time of death or injury, of a California: peace officer (highway patrol, marshal, sheriff, police officer); Department of Corrections or Youth Authority employee; or permanent/full-time firefighter employed by public entities, who was killed in the performance of duty or totally disabled as a result of an accident or injury caused by external violence or physical force incurred in the performance of duty.; The applicant must be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a minimum of six units.; Must attend or plan to attend a California postsecondary institution (two-year community college or four-year college or university) accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). A list of accredited schools is available on the WASC website at www.wascweb.org.; Must be a high school senior or older at time of application.
