Requirements Must be a high school senior or older at time of application.; Must be a domestic student in the U.S.; This is an undergraduate and/or graduate award.; Must be a resident of Texas.; Must be currently employed by a school and serving in some capacity, including having worked as an educational aide in a Texas public school district for one year during the five years preceding the term or semester for which the exemption is received or have been a substitute teacher with 180 full days of service within the past five years.; Must be a U.S. citizen.; Must attend a public college or university in Texas.; Must demonstrate financial need. The applicant must apply for financial aid through the college to be attended, including filing the FAFSA or by qualifying based on Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). Single, independent students must have a mximum AGI of $27,565; married, independent students must have a maximum AGI of $55,131 (student and spouse together); and dependent students must have a maximum AGI of $55,131 (student and family together).; Must be enrolled in courses required for teacher certification at the institution of higher education granting the exemption.
