Requirements Must enroll on a half-time basis or more.; Must be a domestic student in the U.S.; This is an undergraduate and/or graduate award.; Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.; Must be a resident of South Carolina.; Must be enrolled in a teacher education program, or have expressed an intent to enroll in such a program.; Must be a high school senior or older to apply.; An entering freshman must be ranked in the top 40 percent of his/her high school graduating class.; Enrolled undergraduate students, including enrolled freshmen, must have taken and passed the Praxis I exam, South Carolina Education Entrance Exam (EEE) and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Entering graduate students must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale, and graduate students who have completed at least one term must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. *Note: This requirement is waived during the borrower's first year in the loan program if he/she is classified as a 'career changer'.; An entering freshman must have a SAT or ACT score equal to or greater than the South Carolina average for the year of graduation or the most recent year for which such figures are available (currently, these scores are: SAT 993, ACT 19.4).
