Requirements Must certify that he/she has not been convicted of any felonies, and has not been convicted of any alcohol or drug-related misdemeanor offenses within the past academic year.; Must be a domestic student in the U.S.; Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident who meets the definition of an eligible non-citizen under state residency statutes.; This is a freshman year award.; Must be a high school senior at time of application.; Must be a legal resident of South Carolina as defined in applicable state statutes governing the determination of residency for tuition and fee purposes.; Must have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale by the end of his/her junior year if applying by the early application deadline. If applying by the final application deadline, the student must have earned a 3.5 or higher grade point average by the end of his/her senior year. *NOTE: If the student's grade point average is 4.0 or above and he/she has an SAT score of 1400 or higher or an ACT score of 32 or higher, class rank will not be a consideration when giving an award. However, if the student's test scores and grade point average are below these figures, he/she must also rank in the top 6 percent of his/her class to be eligible for the scholarship.; Must have an SAT score of 1200 or higher or an ACT score of 27 or higher. SAT scores may be the best combined scores using the math and critical reading subsections; ACT scores must be obtained at one test sitting. *Note: Students cannot use the writing subsection score on the new version of the SAT to meet the minimum score requirement. If applying for the early application deadline, test scores must be obtained by the November national test administration. If applying by the final application deadline, test scores will be accepted through the June national test administration of the senior year.; Must be planning to attend an eligible public or private four-year institution in South Carolina.
