Requirements Must attend an eligible West Virginia public or private college or university.; Must have completed half of the credits required for graduation in a public or private high school in West Virginia. A resident student from West Virginia who commutes daily to an out-of-state private high school is also eligible to apply. A home-schooled student must have been provided instruction in West Virginia for two years or more immediately preceding application.; Must have lived in West Virginia for 12 months or more immediately preceding the final date of application for a PROMISE Scholarship or the renewal of a scholarship. Home schooled students must have been provided instruction in West Virginia for two years immediately preceding application.; Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in both the core courses and in the student's overall grade point average. The core requirements are: English/language arts (four credits), mathematics (three credits), social sciences (three credits), and natural sciences (three credits).; Must have a composite ACT score of 21 or higher or a combined SAT score of 1000 or higher. The applicant must have a minimum ACT sub score of 20 in all subject areas or a minimum score of 490 on the verbal section and a 480 on the math section of the SAT.; This is a freshman year award.; Must plan to enroll as a full-time student.; Must be a high school senior at time of application.; Must be a domestic student in the U.S.; Must be a U.S. citizen.
