Eligibility criteria for a Stafford Loan include:

A need for financial aid to be able to receive a Subsidized Stafford Loan
Registration with Selective Service, if needed
A non-default status on an education loan or repayment on all education grant refunds
Classification as at least a half-time student and working toward a degree or certificate
Completion of the FAFSA for the appropriate academic year
U.S. citizenship or eligibility as non-citizen
Acceptance for enrollment in a participating institution of higher learning; or, a status showing satisfactory progress in cases of those already enrolled.
